Programme outline — ESG, Sustainability and Green Finance for non-ESG Managers1 day course in English

Highlight

Learn the essentials of environmental, social, and governance risks (ESG).  Understand how these risks affect your organisation and the financial implications. Prepare your organisation for the transition to a carbon-neutral economy.

Why do you need these skills? Because the political goals are set (UN Agenda 2030 on Sustainable Development Goals, Paris Agreement on Climate Change). Now it is up to lawmakers to adopt legislation and to market participants to define concrete strategies and policies for the implementation at organisational level.

The practical challenges lie in the complexity of the sustainable transition. Environmental (E), Social (S), and Governance (G) matters impact organisations not only in a single place but often on a global basis. Special managerial skills are required for the overall understanding of ESG risks, their assessment, and management to the benefit of the organisation, but also the wider society.

This 1-day course is designed to provide a compact introduction to ESG risks and sustainability, paired with a practical case study on the concepts. You will get hands-on experience in ESG risk management which will benefit you in your day-to-day business!

Key Learnings:

  • This very practice-based course is structured in four themes:
    • ESG Foundation
    • ESG Legal
    • ESG Taxonomy
    • ESG Disclosure (CSRD)

  • Each theme includes the key ideas of each subject and educates you about your ESG responsibilities in your organisation.
  • ESG Foundation includes the scientific justification of ESG and Sustainability.
  • ESG Legal presents the complex legal environment of ESG in the EU.
  • ESG Taxonomy identifies criteria for sustainable economic criteria.
  • ESG disclosure shows the reporting needs for financial and non-financial firms as required by the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).

ESG Matters: How to Save the Planet, Empower People, and Outperform the Competition In ESG Matters, authors Dr. Debra L. Brown and David A. H. Brown challenge the thinking that businesses operate in a vacuum, separate from the environment. Maintaining a focus on environment, social, and governance (ESG) places an organization a step above those that don’t consider the ethics of good business.

Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Investing: A Balanced Analysis of the Theory and Practice of a Sustainable Portfolio Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Investing: A Balanced Analysis of the Theory and Practice of a Sustainable Portfolio presents a balanced, thorough analysis of ESG factors as they are incorporated into the investment process. An estimated 25% of all new investments are in ESG funds, with a global total of $23 trillion and the U.S. accounting for almost $9 trillion. Many advocate the sustainability goals promoted by ESG, while others prefer to maximize returns and spend their earnings on social causes. The core problem facing those who want to promote sustainability goals is to define sustainability investing and measure its returns.
